Richard Fitzhugh BSc (Hons)

Richard has over 15 years’experience in crisis management, business resilience, emergency response, business continuity and ITDR across a wide range of sectors including mining, finance, law, medical and government. In his previous role he was employed as the Global Principal in Business Resilience at Rio Tinto. He is currently working with several organisations, including managing the global launch and implementation of a new resilience programme for one of Europe’s largest companies, LafargeHolcim.

He specialises in the design and implementation of business resilience programmes, as well as live response to complex, major incidents. in addition to a wealth experience in the entire BR life cycle from field to boardroom, he specialises in:

  • Designing, implementing and maintaining the global BR programmes, policy, procedures, standards, guidelines, support and implementation materials
  • Embedded support to live incident at tactical and strategic level including extreme level security incidents, industrial disasters, cyber incidents, fatalities, kidnap, evacuations, social unrest, natural catastrophes, material level integrity and reputation issues
  • Support to corporate merger, acquisitions and divestments
  • Specific planning for complex and sensitive events
  • Delivery of training programmes at all levels of the organisation
  • Emergency response, business resilience and continuity exercises
  • Audit and assurance for all areas of the business resilience programme
  • Benchmarking and maturity mapping business resilience programme
